About Desolation Hotel

Opening in South Lake Tahoe in May 2022, Desolation Hotel is a new, exceptionally well-appointed, eco-luxury micro-resort featuring 21 signature townhomes, studios, and suites blending Japanese tranquility with Scandinavian design. Guest experiences will include seasonal fare at Maggie’s Restaurant Bar, in-room soaking tubs on outside balconies, outdoor saltwater pool and Japanese-inspired jacuzzi, Peloton-studded fitness studio, onsite marketplace, EV charging stations, a dog lounge, and shared private beach access. The property is inspired by pioneer John Muir who found harmony between the celebration and preservation of the Desolation Wilderness in the El Dorado National Forest, serving as a portal for adventure and rejuvenation in South Lake Tahoe. Staffed by experienced people who love the adventures in and around the Lake Tahoe area, they will be a continual source of ideas on how to bring Tahoe experiences to life best. Desolation Hotel is owned by the team behind Wylder Hope Valley. It is coming to life at the site of the old Tahoe Villa Motel at 933 Poplar St. in South Lake Tahoe, conveniently located near the beach, Heavenly Village, Van Sickle Bi-State Park, and the outdoor music venue at Harvey’s in Stateline.
